At NaamJap, we believe that spiritual practice should be private by default and transparent by design. We use technology to help you track your progress, but your data belongs to you.
If you join the Sangat, your name, photo, and total counts are visible on the Global Leaderboard. This is designed to keep our community motivated. You can always turn off "Share Detailed Stats" in your settings to remain anonymous.
To save your battery and keep our costs low, the app doesn't send data every time you tap. It waits until you reach 50 taps or 60 seconds have passed before sending an update to the cloud.
If you choose to delete your data, we hide your profile from the community immediately. However, we keep a backup for exactly 24 hours. During this window, you can Stop Deletion simply by logging back into the app. After 24 hours, the "Scrubbing" is permanent and data cannot be recovered.
To keep NaamJap free for seekers worldwide, we use Google AdMob. They see a "Device ID" to show relevant ads, but they never see your name, email, or your private chanting sessions.

Authentication data and spiritual metrics are stored as long as the account remains active. Upon a Permanent Deletion Request, data enters a 24-hour restricted state before final erasure from Firestore production databases. Logged-in users may invoke the "Stop Deletion" protocol by re-authenticating within the 24-hour window.
